FONPLATA is a multilateral development organization made up of five countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. Its main goal is to support the integration of its member countries in order to achieve a harmonic and inclusive development within and across the River Plate Basin areas of influence, through long-term financing.
FONPLATA seeks to contribute to the reduction of economic disparities through working with national partners, institutions and development agencies in the financing of small and medium sized projects in the River Plate Basin.
FONPLATA focus its operations to improve living conditions, infraestructure and systems in investment projects in communications infrastructure, transport, energy and logistics for social, economic and productive development. FONPLATA´s operations include: pre-investment, investment loans and technical cooperation support.
FONPLATA targets small and medium development projects with an average amount of USD 30 million. Its main focus is to foster the regional integration of the most vulnerable areas, mainly border areas with special interest in the physical, economic and social inequalities in the region.
