Matias Mednik Bio

Since September 2025, Matías Mednik has been the Vice President of Finance at FONPLATA—Development Bank. His previous position at the Bank was Head of Strategic and Economic Studies.

He worked at the Inter-American Development Bank (including IDB Invest and IDB Lab), the Central Bank of Uruguay, BBVA, and with multiple UN agencies such as UNCTAD and UNDP, serving in roles related to development finance, macroeconomic analysis, development effectiveness, strategy and impact, and participating in evaluations and sovereign debt operations from a data science perspective.

He specializes in development finance and has extensive experience in multiple aspects of MDB operations.

A Uruguayan national, Mednik is an economist who graduated from the University of the Republic (Uruguay), holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA), and has pursued doctoral studies in Political Science at Columbia University.
