FONPLATA opened a liaison office in La Paz, Bolivia
On Thursday, August 1st, FONPLATA — Development Bank opened its new liaison office in the city of La Paz. The event was attended by local and national authorities, representatives of international organizations, social organizations, and members of the diplomatic corps, among others: Antonio Mullisaca Diaz, Vice Minister of Public Investment and External Financing and FONPLATA's Director for Bolivia; Juana Jiménez, Vice Minister of Treasury and Public Credit and FONPLATA's Alternate Director for Bolivia; David Guachalla, Bolivia's Vice Minister of Planning and Coordination; Humberto Arandia, Director of the National Statistics Institute (INE); Luis Henrique Sobreira Lopes, Ambassador of Brazil; Óscar Ubaldo Benítez, First Secretary of the Embassy of Paraguay; Jeannette Sánchez Zurita, CAF Representative in Bolivia, and the technical teams of the National Fund for Productive and Social Investment (FPS), the INE, and the Bolivian Highway Administration (ABC).
Before the protocol toast, Juana Jiménez, as Executive Director for Bolivia, highlighted FONPLATA's valuable contribution to the country and the importance of the Bank being closer to implementing agencies with this office in La Paz to fulfill its role of facilitator of projects that benefit the Bolivian society.
In her speech, the Vice President of Operations and Countries, Eliana Dam, underscored the contribution of the projects funded by FONPLATA in Bolivia: “This new office in La Paz is important for the Bank because it is part of our DNA to have a very close relationship with our counterparts and it is here where the national authorities and representatives of the implementing agencies meet. This presence in the city where the Bolivian Government has its headquarters strengthens the management and execution of our projects to achieve a greater impact in terms of development.”
To conclude, the Executive Vice President, Mariana Prado, made a toast and invited those present to perform the traditional Bolivian ch'alla.
