FONPLATA is a multilateral development back which is comprised of five countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. We finance small and midsize projects (Approximately US$ 50 million) especially in vulnerable urban areas, rural areas and frontier regions in order to be able to promote the integration between countries or between regions within the same country.
Within the framework of the annual assembly of FONPLATA, which this year will take place in Brazil, we will carry out the first mayor’s forum which will besides gathering the chief executives of over 50 municipalities, will also have diverse representatives from the federal government and special guests. This event which is proposed as a new meeting point between mayors, who will have the support of local and international specialists that will be accompanying us with their insights which point out new forms of development with high-impact and municipal integration, both locally and regionally.
The objective of this event, is to be able to share best practices and the main tendencies in urban and territorial sustainable development; with the primary focus being the challenges that are faced by municipalities in issues that go from infrastructure; urban mobility, circular economy, renewable energy, sustainable tourism and governance, amongst others.
The forum is oriented towards generating a useful space for debate and it is profiling itself as an integrating and participative space with the players off the municipalities with three thematic modules.
