FONPLATA participates in the first International Climate Conference: “Latin-American Commitment towards COP30”
Organized by the government of the city of Cordoba, Argentina, this first conference brought together the Latin-American region with a clear call: solutions to the climate crisis are also born in the territories. From water management to energy transformation and resilient urban planning, our cities have a key role in the actions required.
FONPLATA supports the region's efforts, promoting projects that strengthen the capacities of subnational governments to adapt to new environmental scenarios and reduce their negative impacts.
Carolina Vera, General Coordinator of FONPLATA's participation in COP30, represented the Bank in the panel: “Innovative financial tools for productive transformation”, which also included specialists from the governments of Santa Fe and Córdoba, and representatives from CABEI, AFD, and the local Moody's Agency, among others.
Vera shared FONPLATA's vision at the regional level and the available loan instruments, such as the green credit line, referring to the case of the Municipality of Indaiatuba (Brazil), where the Bank finances an ambitious adaptation project with a territorial, sanitation, environmental, and social approach to improve water quality, reduce emissions, and strengthen public health.
With a view to COP30, the project provides concrete evidence on how urban water security, when managed with adaptation and environmental justice criteria, can strengthen the territorial and productive resilience of an entire strategic region.
