FONPLATA is part of the “Routes for Integration” initiative
On Thursday, December 7, during the MERCOSUR Summit, the “Routes for Integration” initiative was announced by four development banks – the Brazilian National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and FONPLATA — Development Bank –, and the Brazilian Ministry of Planning and Budget.
The event was attended by the Presidents of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Bolivia, Luis Arce, and Paraguay, Santiago Peña, as well as the Vice President of Brazil, Geraldo Alckmin, and the Brazilian Ministers of Planning and Budget, Simone Tebet, and Foreign Affairs, Mauro Viera. The alliance, that will promote strategic infrastructure projects for integration, was signed by the President of BNDES, Aloizio Mercadante, the Executive President of CAF, Sergio Díaz Granados Guida, the President of IDB, Ilan Goldfajn, and the Executive President of FONPLATA, Luciana Botafogo Brito.
Luciana Botafogo expressed the Bank’s commitment to mobilize resources to support projects within the initiative, and celebrated Bolivia's integration into MERCOSUR, thus positioning FONPLATA as a Bank of the regional bloc.
“At FONPLATA we want to continue contributing to the integration of Brazil with its partners in MERCOSUR, as well as between the bloc and the other South American countries. Thus, we enhance the growth and the economic and social development of our countries”, said Botafogo.
