Prefeitura de Feira de Santana

On May 6, the Executive Board of Directors approved an operation for USD 64 million for the municipality of Feira de Santana, in the state of Bahia, Brazil, to support the implementation of the Sustainable Urban Drainage and Efficient Mobility Program – Feira 200 Years. This initiative seeks to improve the quality of life of more than 600,000 inhabitants by modernizing the urban drainage system, the environmental recovery of lagoons, and improving urban mobility in strategic areas of the municipality.

The project, with a total cost of USD 80 million, including local counterpart funds, also features components for institutional strengthening and promotion of gender equity and diversity. Some of the program's specific objectives are flood risk reduction through macro and micro drainage works in the Jacuípe, Subaé, and Pojuca basins; ecological restoration of the Prato Raso, Salgada, and Berreca lagoons; road infrastructure enhancing through the construction and expansion of avenues and viaducts; and implementation of actions targeted at women, young people, and LGBTQIA+ individuals in vulnerable situations.

The initiative is framed within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and reinforces FONPLATA's commitment to sustainable, inclusive, and resilient urban development in Latin America.
