FONPLATA participates in the Mobility Conference 2025
Local and international stakeholders, government authorities, and companies met on May 8 and 9 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to exchange ideas, experiences, and solutions aiming at promoting safer, more efficient, sustainable, and inclusive mobility.
FONPLATA's Project and Gender Specialist, Carolina Benítez, participated in the panel ‘Inclusive Mobility’, where she highlighted the importance of gender equality as a driver of growth and development in countries and referred to concrete experiences that integrate this approach in urban transportation infrastructure projects financed by the Bank. Benítez highlighted the Mobility and Socio-environmental Development Program implemented in Campina Grande (Brazil), which promotes the installation of safe stops with a gender perspective and the development of the Ju.Li.A app, a technological tool for reporting and addressing situations of gender-based violence in public spaces. The panel was shared with representatives of other multilateral banks and transport experts from countries in the region.
Successful initiatives and models from different cities around the world were highlighted at the conference, such as the work on integrated urban mobility systems, the incorporation of technology and data science in transportation, road safety, and energy transition. In addition, international leaders in transportation planning shared their experiences of innovation and strategic projection to improve mobility and urban connectivity, such as the New York, Paris, and London subway projects. Likewise, the incorporation of electric buses in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires was discussed. The system seeks to reduce the environmental impact of public transportation, which today represents around 30% of the emissions in the city.
FONPLATA was one of the sponsors of the event, in line with its commitment to articulate efforts to continue advancing towards sustainability and inclusion solutions for the region.
