FONPLATA holds first Executive Board Meeting of the year in Argentina

The 199th Meeting of FONPLATA’s Executive Board of Directors was held on February 13, in the city of Mendoza, Argentina. Among other topics, the authorities discussed issues related to the Bank’s management, and approved a USD-50-million loan for sanitation works in the State of Pará, Brazil.

The program, led by the Sanitation Company of Pará, aims at safeguarding urban micro-watersheds and spring recharge zones that supply the metropolitan region of Belem. To this end, the works will focus on the improvement of water management, monitoring, quality, and quantity to promote environmental, economic, and social sustainability.

In addition, the annual review of the financial conditions of the Sovereign and Non-Sovereign Risk Financing Lines was conducted and the Financial Statements and External Audit Report 2024 were presented.

The meeting was attended by Pablo Quirno and Matías Javier Mana representing Argentina; Antonio Mullisaca and Juana Patricia Jiménez Soto representing Bolivia; Fabio Marvulle Bueno and João Luís Rossi representing Brazil; Oscar Pérez and Francisco Ogura representing Paraguay; and Fernando Scelza and Valérie Stahl representing Uruguay.

Visit and potential funding of sovereign guarantee project

Subsequently, the Directors and the Bank's Senior Management visited a drinking water treatment plant in the Province of Mendoza. In this occasion, the Bank announced its intention to partially finance a project for the improvement and expansion of drinking water services, which amounts to USD 75 million and may be supported by the Argentine National Government through the issuance of a sovereign guarantee.
