Advances in synergy with MERCOSUR towards regional development

Ph. FONPLATA

FONPLATA's Executive President, Luciana Botafogo, and the Country Coordinator in Uruguay, Carolina Vera, met with MERCOSUR ambassadors to discuss the next steps for the signing of two agreements between FONPLATA and MERCOSUR related to the Structural Convergence Fund of MERCOSUR (FOCEM) in the coming months.

The meeting, held in Montevideo on March 13, focused on the signing of two new agreements: one for financial supplementation and the other for technical supplementation. These instruments will strengthen the partnership established in 2018, when FONPLATA became the trustee of FOCEM's financial resources.

During the meeting, Luciana Botafogo highlighted the importance of working jointly with the FOCEM National Technical Units in the MERCOSUR member states, as well as with the executing agencies, to implement projects in favor of regional integration.

Paraguayan Ambassador Didier Olmedo, representing the Pro Tempore Presidency of the MERCOSUR Permanent Representatives Commission (CRPM), stated that the text of the agreements is being agreed upon and that there is interest in signing them as soon as possible.
