FONPLATA participates in the OPEC Fund Development Forum 2025
Luciana Botafogo, Executive President of FONPLATA — Development Bank, participated in the fourth OPEC Fund Development Forum 2025, held in Vienna, Austria, on June 17, under the theme A Transition that Empowers Our Tomorrow. Senior government officials, heads of financial institutions, and representatives from the public and private sectors met to share ideas, build partnerships, and shape the future of sustainable development financing.
In the parallel session 2, Driving Resource Resilience, the President shared the Bank's focus on integrated and local solutions for sustainable water management and urbanization, prioritizing regional cooperation and local articulation.
FONPLATA's participation in this forum is part of its international positioning and strategic alliances agenda. In 2024, FONPLATA and the OPEC Fund for International Development renewed their partnership through the signature of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) based on the principles of an agreement signed in 2022. The objective of this new agreement is to support the development of a project portfolio and to finance pre-investment studies focused on key areas such as infrastructure, renewable energy, energy efficiency, transportation, communication, water and sanitation, among other priority sectors for sustainable development.
The alliance with the OPEC Fund allows the Bank to expand its co-financing and cooperation capabilities, positioning it as a key partner for channeling resources to initiatives that address the development priorities of the region.
FONPLATA's presence at this forum reaffirms its commitment to an active international agenda, its vocation, and its mission to accompany its member countries on the road to fairer, more resilient, and sustainable development. Watch the full session HERE.
