On Thursday, November 23, FONPLATA approved a USD-10-million loan to BADESUL, development agency of the state Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, with a 5-year term, under the non-sovereign risk line.

The purpose of the loan is to promote regional development through financing productive sectors, urban infrastructure, and micro and small enterprises.

These investments are aimed at municipal and micro and small enterprises projects which aim at generating environmentally sustainable economic and social growth. This is FONPLATA's second operation of this type in Brazil and the fourth in the Bank's history to finance the non-sovereign public sector, paving the way for similar projects in other member countries.
