FONPLATA took part in event on Access to Funding for Gender-Based Policies
On Wednesday, May 8, FONPLATA’s Executive President, Luciana Botafogo, participated in the course “Attracting external funding for local policies with gender approach”, in Brasilia, Brazil, together with authorities from Brazil and other multilateral banks. The course was aimed at women in the government, such as governors, mayors, and state and municipal secretaries.
The Executive President took part in the panel “Mobilization of external funding as a tool for local development”, which discussed the role of multilateral financing for the development of states and municipalities. Estefania Laterza, Representative of CAF in Brazil, and Sophie Naudeau, World Bank’s Operations Manager to Brazil, were also present at the panel which handled the functioning of the Ministry of Planning's External Financing Commission – COFIEX, to make it more accessible to public agencies headed by women.
Additionally, Carolina Benitez, Project Specialist of FONPLATA, participated in the panel “Cities that keep women in mind and women that keep cities in mind: Innovative local policies on housing and urban mobility”, together with Clémentine Tribouillard, IDB Housing and Urban Development Specialist, and Angie Palacios, CAF Housing and Gender Specialist. The panel dealt with the importance of including gender issues in housing and urban mobility policies, as well as in the planning of projects, to contribute to equal opportunities and women empowerment, and to improve the quality of life, reduce gaps and impact on cities in and inclusive and sustainable way.
With FONPLATA, we stressed our commitment to contributing to Gender Equality in the countries of the region, joining efforts and creating synergies with all agents involved.
