FONPLATA

FONPLATA took part in two important panels of the Brazil–Bolivia Business Forum, which took place in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, on September 26 and 27.

On September 26, Gastón Andrés Gómez, FONPLATA's Risk Management Specialist, participated in the panel “Infrastructure for the Bolivia–Brazil Integration”. He discussed the role of multilateral banks in the development of infrastructure for regional integration in an uncertain and complex context.

On September 27, Luciana Botafogo, Executive President of FONPLATA, took part in the panel “Women's Business Leadership”, where she discussed how women's leadership contributes to sustainable development, from the perspective of Multilateral Development Banks, and shared FONPLATA's experience.

In her speech, the President emphasized the importance of women's leadership, highlighting the advantages introduced companies with women in executive and management positions, such as greater economic profitability, increased social inclusion, and the ability to address complex issues such as sustainability. All of this, thanks to the empirical, transformational and resilient leadership style that characterizes women.

She also highlighted FONPLATA's progress in this area, such as the EDGE certification, which accredits the Bank as a promoter of equal gender opportunities within the institution. For instance, women are the head of three of the four vice presidencies, and this reflects in the institution's projects.

Finally, the President handled the challenges of women's leadership and empowerment, including the gaps in skills and information, the barriers to reconciling work and family life, and the need to strengthen networks that make it possible to make their demands visible and to schedule them according to their strategic interests.
