FONPLATA present at Finance in Common Summit
The Development Bank participated in the 2025 Finance in Common Summit (FiCS), held from 26-28 February 2025 in Cape Town, South Africa. The Summit is an annual event that brings together FiCS members and guests from all over the world to discuss relevant topics on the role of Public Development Banks (PDBs) in the reshaping of the financial system towards sustainability.
On behalf of FONPLATA, Strategic Development Vice President, Viviana González, and Senior Specialist on Strategic Alliances, Raphael Lenzi, participated in a meeting about innovative approaches to technical assistance and their role in the shift within the ecosystem of development banks and international organizations.
Viviana González highlighted FONPLATA's key role in regional integration, stating: “Our alliances with other multilateral banks and strategic partners reflect a vision of complementarity; through innovative collaborations and partnerships we strengthen the impact of sustainable development in the region.”
The summit also included bilateral meetings with different organizations and partners such as the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP), FMDV – Global Fund for Cities Development, CAF – Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), among others.
About FiCS
The FiCS coalition comprises 530 members from around the world bringing together multilateral development banks (MDBs), regional associations of MDBs that are members of the World Federation of Development Financing Institutions (WFDFI), and the 26 members of the International Development Finance Club (IDFC).
FiCS aims to recognize and strengthen the role of public development banks within the global financial system and seeks to spearhead a global and inclusive mobilization effort in which all financial institutions work closely together to leave no one behind and align financial flows towards achieving the goals set by major global commitments, such as the Paris Agreement, the Global Biodiversity Framework and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
