FONPLATA signed USD 20-million financing for BADESUL to strengthen cities and companies affected by climate change

On January 28, FONPLATA and the Development Agency of the Brazilian State of Rio Grande do Sul (BADESUL) signed a USD 20-million loan agreement. The investment will support the resilient reconstruction of cities and companies severely affected by climate change in that region.

The loan, granted under the non-sovereign risk line after the Bank's Executive Board’s approval last September, will strengthen the investment capacity and productive development of the municipalities. It is expected to benefit 230 companies damaged by the May 2024 floods.

The program will promote the restoration of critical infrastructure, such as roads and bridges; provide financial and technical assistance to companies to resume operations and maintain employment; and implement strategies to reduce vulnerability to future climate events.
