FONPLATA supports the Argentine Province of Mendoza to optimize and expand drinking water services
At its last meeting, FONPLATA’s Board of Directors approved a USD 75-million loan for the “Drinking Water Services Optimization and Expansion Program” in the Province of Mendoza, Argentina.
The operation will directly benefit more than 980,000 people and enable the connection of about 100,000 new residents to the drinking water system, boosting inclusion and well-being in the province.
Conducted by the Ministry of Treasury and Finances of the Province of Mendoza, with a guarantee from the Ministry of Economy of Argentina, the program includes key investments in infrastructure, such as the construction and modernization of water treatment plants, distribution networks, reservoirs, and pumping stations. The expansion of the Alto Godoy (Greater Mendoza) and Balloffet (Department of San Rafael) plants are among the main works.
Besides the physical works, the operation includes actions focused on the organizational strengthening of the service provider (AySAM S.A.) through a pilot project to reduce water leaks and the implementation of a gender and diversity plan. These initiatives will also allow access to more favorable financial conditions, as they are framed within the Bank's gender and youth equity and green credit lines.
With this operation, FONPLATA reaffirms its commitment to sustainable development, water resilience, and improving the quality of life in the medium-sized cities of the region.
