FONPLATA at the COP30: Local Governments for Climate

FONPLATA

On Monday, November 10, as part of COP 30, FONPLATA took part in the panel “Governos locais pelo clima: por uma transição energética inclusiva” (Local Governments for Climate: For an Inclusive Energy Transition),” organized by ICLEI South America at the Amazon Climate Hub in Belem, Brazil.

Raphael Lenzi, Senior Specialist in Strategic Alliances, shared the Bank's perspective on the strategic role of subnational governments in this process, emphasizing its efforts to promote local initiatives that foster access to clean energy, strengthen community resilience, and generate green opportunities.

FONPLATA reaffirms its commitment to a fair, inclusive, and place-based energy transition that acknowledges the unique characteristics of the Amazon and helps reduce socioeconomic inequalities across the region.

Effective multilevel governance is key to accelerating the energy transition, aligning efforts among local and national governments and international partners, always with people at the center.
