FONPLATA Reaffirms Its Commitment to Climate Finance and Sustainable Urban Development in Brazil
This week, FONPLATA took part in three key climate finance events in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Bank was represented by a delegation composed of Eliana Dam, Vice President of Operations and Countries; Marina Dockweiler, Senior Specialist in Socio-Environmental Management; and Raphael Lenzi, Senior Specialist in Strategic Alliances.
As part of the C40 World Mayors Summit 2025, the Bank joined the roundtable discussion “Unlocking Investments for Cities and Nature.” In a closed-door session, the delegation engaged with local leaders, financial sector representatives, and national and international investors to explore mechanisms for mobilizing investment in Brazilian cities, integrating nature-based solutions that enhance urban resilience and drive sustainable transformation.
FONPLATA contributed its experience in financing projects that combine territorial development with climate action, offering technical input to municipal initiatives with investment potential.
During the Summit, both specialists also participated in the Annual Meeting of the Amazon Cities Forum, where FONPLATA serves as a technical advisor. The dialogue focused on the Forum’s two-year action plan, the election of the new board of directors, and other strategic matters.
Finally, the Bank took part in the 4th National Meeting of the CB27 2025 Forum, organized by the Forum of Secretaries of the Environment of Brazilian Capitals (CB27), with support from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Brazil and ICLEI Brazil. The Vice President and the Senior Specialist in Strategic Alliances contributed to the roundtable “Climate Finance and Access to Resources for Municipalities,” fostering a constructive exchange on strategies to strengthen local climate policies and expand access to sustainable financing for cities.
FONPLATA's participation in these forums reinforces its role as a strategic partner to local governments in advancing resilient and inclusive urban development and reaffirms its commitment to climate action and environmental sustainability across the region.
