FONPLATA’s New Charter enter into full force and effect

Ph. FONPLATA

FONPLATA’s new Charter has been approved in all instances by the five member countries. January 27, 2024, marks the beginning of a promising time for the Institution, as on December 27, 2023, the Federative Republic of Brazil adopted the new text through Executive Order No. 11,866, and the 30-day period required for the Charter to enter into force was completed.

Among other aspects, the approved amendments enable the incorporation of new members, whether countries or international organizations, aiming at strengthening the Bank's lending capacity in favor of the countries and beneficiaries of the programs financed. This is, thus, a milestone in the process of transforming and broadening FONPLATA's scope of influence. As of today, FONPLATA will be able to add third parties that share the mission and values that Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay have set for the Bank.

The full effectiveness of the Articles of the Charter takes place in the context of the commemoration of FONPLATA's 50th anniversary and at a historic moment in which all the countries that make up this multilateral development Bank are also part of MERCOSUR. We aspire that, with this momentum, FONPLATA will become the main instrument for advancing integration as a means for the development and harmonious progress of the region.
